Dr. Kathryn Schmidt is a leading, highly rated gastroenterologist at Manhattan Gastroenterology, known for her expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to clinical excellence. She completed her Gastroenterology training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the United States, where she gained extensive hands-on experience managing complex gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Schmidt graduated from the prestigious Northwestern University and earned her medical degree from the acclaimed Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. She brings a patient-centered approach and deep clinical expertise in general gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and women’s digestive health.

Throughout her career, Dr. Schmidt has been recognized for her academic excellence and dedication to patient care. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, honored repeatedly on the Dean’s List, and awarded the Sidari Scholarship for Global Healthcare. She also received the distinguished Global Health Pride Award, was a finalist in the American College of Physicians Poster Competition, and earned the prestigious SCOPY Award from the American College of Gastroenterology in 2024.

Her clinical research has been published extensively in prominent peer-reviewed medical journals, and she has presented scholarly work at national conferences. Dr. Schmidt is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
